A maximum of 16 wind turbines are planned in Vasama wind farm. An environmental impact assessment has been carried out for the project, on which the contact authority has issued a reasoned conclusion in the fall of 2023. The zoning plan draft was divided into two areas and a zoning plan proposal was prepared for area 1, while area 2 remained waiting for the progress of the phased regional plan.
In summer 2024 part 1 was approved by the City Council. One appeal concerning the area 1 plan was submitted to the Administrative Court. In autumn 2025, the Administrative Court issued a decision rejecting the appeal against the city council’s decision.
Area 2 was approved by the City Council in autumn 2025. Both areas of the plan are consistent with the approved regional plan.
